Gillingham v - Northampton
19:09, 24 August 2004
GILLS entertain League Two side Northampton Town tonight at Priestfield in the Carling Cup first round with player-manager Andy Hessenthaler ringing the changes.
Seven of the starting eleven will be making their first starts of the season with many first teamers regulars given a rest.
Despite the change around Gills will be desperate for a win as this competition has brought in much needed revenue in recent seasons.
Rested players include keeper Steve Banks, midfielder Danny Spiller and inspirational striker Iwan Roberts whilst injuries to Nicky Southall, John Hills and Darren Byfield keep them out of the squad.
Gills: Brown, Smith, Ashby, Cox, Agyemang, L Johnson, Rose, Jarvis, Pouton, Perpetuini, Sidibe. Subs: Banks, Crofts, Hope, Roberts, Spiller.
Northampton: Harper, Chambers, Willmott, Jazsczun, Richards, Low, McGleish, Sabin, Bojic, Galbraith, Hicks. Subs: Reeves, Youngs, Bunn, Morison, Graham.
