Gillingham v Accrington
Gillingham boss Mark Stimson knows he needs to give the home fans something to cheer about against Accrington on Saturday.
Stimson said: “If you’re asked ‘where do you want to win?’ you want to win at home in front of your fans. If you don’t win at home then you have to make sure you win away and that’s what we’ve done.
“Now we’ve got two home games and we want to take maximum points. If we do that then we’ll be in a fantastic position and if we don’t we’ll have to see where we are.
“We’ll only be going out for one thing on Saturday and that’s to win the game and the added bonus is to play some good stuff which the boys have shown they can do.”
Gillingham last met Accrington at home in Division 4 in 1960 and secured a 2-1 win. For many they will be seen as minnows and a pushover but Stimson has warned against complacency.
“We’re back at home and expectations raise again,” he said. “Accrington Stanley versus Gillingham, it should be 4-0 shouldn’t it? That’s what the stats or the supporters will be saying but it doesn’t work like that.”
Gillingham will be without Nicky Southall (back and hamstring) but new signing Charlie Daniels could start.
