Yeovil Town v Gillingham

GILLINGHAM go in search of a record-equalling seventh straight win on Saturday when they travel to Yeovil.

The last time Gills achieved the feat was during their 1954-55 Division 3 (South) campaign and Ronnie Jepson is keen to see his players make history.

"Everyone keeps telling me about the record and it would be nice to match it," said Jepson, whose side’s phenomenal turnaround in form saw them leave the relegation scrap behind after a six-game winning streak.

"It’s nice for the players," continued Jepson. "The way they’ve been working, they deserve it. In a few years the players could look back at this run but I’ll talk about that after Saturday’s game.

"For now it’s just another three points. It’s nice to win games and break records but I’m not going to get carried away."

With League 1 status now secured for another season the winning sequence ensured Gillingham head to Yeovil with plenty to play for.

But with the Somerset side sitting precariously above the drop zone, Jepson knows his side will have a battle on their hands to maintain their impressive run.

He said: "It’s going to be very tough. They’re fighting down there for their lives and hopefully we can go there and play like we have been doing of late."
