GILLINGHAM entertain Leyton Orient at Priestfield on Boxing Day with both teams aiming to build on impressive recent performances.

Ronnie Jepson’s side head into the fixture boosted by Saturday’s 3-2 win at Tranmere while Orient have won their last two games on the road.

The O’s drew 1-1 at home against Crewe at the weekend, but previously enjoyed trips to Northampton and league leaders Nottingham Forest, where they finished with maximum points on both occasions.

Gills boss Jepson may opt to stick with the same starting eleven that saw off high-flying Tranmere, which would mean a first start on home soil for striker Bas Savage.

Loan keeper Dean Brill will be hoping to retain his place in goal as Kelvin Jack continues to recover from a shoulder injury.

The Gills are unbeaten in their last five home matches and Jepson remains confident of success despite Orient’s recent form.

“They've run into a bit of form especially away from home so we are going to have to be bang on again,” he said.

“If we can capture the form we have showed in a lot of our home games then we will be okay, but if we step off it a touch it will be difficult - we'll have to be at our best.”
