Gillingham have added Brighton winger Brennan Dickenson to their ranks.

The 20-year-old, who can play either on the wing or upfront, arrives on a two-year-deal after Gills paid an undisclosed fee to the Championship side.

Dickenson joined Brighton in 2012 from Conference South side Dorchester Town but never played a first-team game for the south-coast side.

He was forced to head out on loan for competitive action, appearing for Chesterfield, AFC Wimbledon and Northampton Town over the past two seasons.

“It feels really good to have signed,” he said.

“It’s going to be good for me to get out here (at Priestfield) and show the fans what I’ve got and get some games under my belt in League 1.

“I’ve got pace, I’m good in the air, will put in plenty of crosses and I hope I can please the fans.”

Dickenson spent three months on loan with Northampton last season, helping them avoid relegation from League 2. He played 13 games for the Cobblers, scoring once in a 2-0 win over Hartlepool.

He spent a brief time playing alongside Gills front-man Antonio German, who was also on loan at Northampton for a spell last season.

Brennan and his new team-mates spent the day completing a fitness testing session. The whole Gills squad return for training on Wednesday.
