Gills rule out move for striker MacDonald
11:11, 11 June 2008
Gillingham manager Mark Stimson has denied the club are interested in Southend striker Charlie MacDonald.
The former Gravesend forward is in talks with a League 2 club, fuelling speculation that Gillingham could be making a move for the 27-year-old.
Stimson is on the hunt for a striker but has distanced himself from talk of MacDonald coming to Priestfield.
“It’s not me,” said Stimson, “He’s not the type of player I need and if anything I need someone more physical.”
MacDonald held talks with Gillingham last season, then under the management of Ronnie Jepson, but he opted for a move to Southend.
