Gills must be wary of strikers Callum Wilson and Chuba Akpom when Coventry visit Priestfield on Tuesday night.

Wilson has scored 17 goals in 30 appearances this season while Akpom is on loan from Premier League Arsenal.

City have lost four of their last six games but Gills boss Peter Taylor believes the Sky Blues are dangerous opponents.

He said: “We’re a little bit unlucky that Wilson’s fit and playing well for them because I think they miss him. We’ve got to be careful there and they’ve signed Akpom from Arsenal.

“I also know Franck Moussa, who I had on loan at Wycombe.

“They’ve got some good players and at the start of the season they were flying. They’re not flying as much now but they’re still going to be dangerous.

'I did say that if we could get four points out of the next two home games, that would be good.'

“I did say that if we could get four points out of the next two home games, that would be good.

“So if we get a point or three on Tuesday, I’ll be delighted.”

Adebayo Akinfenwa could start having been kept on the bench until the 72nd minute against Crawley as Taylor decides who will partner former Coventry forward Cody McDonald.

Midfielders Amine Linganzi and Connor Smith are also pushing for a return having been left out of the squad following international duty.

Taylor didn’t want to risk an injury with Linganzi, who was away with Congo.

But he had already decided to leave out Smith, who played 90 minutes for Republic of Ireland under-21s in a 2-1 defeat by Montenegro lastWednesday night.

Bradley Dack also missed out on Saturday, left on the bench as Taylor employed out-and-out widemen in Craig Fagan and Myles Weston.

The Gills manager added: “Bradley was unlucky not to be playing because he runs all over the place but I wanted somebody to stay wider.”
