On-loan Dartford striker Matt Godden could yet line up against Ebbsfleet in the FA Cup on Saturday.

The 22-year-old is with the Darts on a month-long deal from Scunthorpe, who didn’t want Godden to become cup-tied before returning to Glanford Park.

But with Dartford short of attacking options, manager Tony Burman has asked Iron boss Brian Laws to reconsider Godden’s situation.

Godden, who enjoyed two successful loan spells with the Fleet last season, is well known to the Stonebridge Road faithful, who were delighted to hear he wouldn’t be lining up against them.

However, Dartford are still hopeful their in-form centre-forward will be eligible.

"I’d love to play in the game," Godden said.

"Obviously there would be mixed emotions because I enjoyed my time down there, but you’ve got to do what you’ve got to do.

"I wasn’t allowed to play when the contract was first signed but they’ve been trying to enable me to play throughout this week.

"My preparation will be the same (as if I was playing)."

Godden’s inclusion would be a huge boost for Dartford.

He scored a hat-trick in their 4-3 win over Hyde in The Skrill Premier on Saturday and he is their only fully-fit striker.

Godden said: "I feel sharper every day. Every game, I’m getting better and better. The way I’m playing, I’m backing myself to score in every game at the moment.

"If that happened, there would be no celebration out of respect for the Ebbsfleet fans.

"I got on well with them and I’ve had no abuse since joining Dartford. That’s the way it should be."

A decision will be made on Godden's availability by Friday lunchtime.
