A Kent skier has been selected to represent Great Britain at the Topolino Race in Italy.
Giulia Harte, 12, from Barham, competed in the British Alpine Race Ski Clubs Championships (BARSC) in Petzen, Austria at the start of January.
She finished second in her age group in the slalom and the giant slalom. In the Super G, a speed discipline where competitors exceed 50mph, her ski popped off and she was unable to finish the race.
As a result of her performances in Austria, Giulia has been selected to represent Great Britain in the Topolino Race in Levico, Italy from February 16. The event is the premier event on the children’s international race calendar for young alpine ski racers. Giulia will compete in the slalom and giant slalom.
Her father and coach, Martin Harte, said: “Giulia is really looking forward to it and is proud that she’ll be skiing for Great Britain.”
