THE he Gillingham-based Invicta Dynamos ice hockey team go into this weekend’s League Cup final safe in the knowledge they have already had a fantastic season and if they win the treble it will be their best ever campaign.

In what has been a fairytale year, the Mighty Mos have already been crowned English National Premier League and Play-off champions. A third, and possibly fourth piece of silverware in the shape of the league’s fair play award, would achieve every aim set at the beginning of the season.

In contrast, Romford finished fourth in the league and lost out on a play-off spot on goal difference. The Cup is their last hope. Not winning some kind of trophy will be viewed as a bitter disappointment by this highly competitive team.

Captain Phil Chard said: “The fact local rivals Romford are our opponents in the final makes it really special. Quietly confident is the best way to describe our fully fit squad.”

Team manager Andy Mason added: “We're at the final hurdle and have to ensure we make a good start away from home. Then on Sunday we want to lift the roof off the Ice Bowl and are expecting the biggest crowd of the season."
