A handful of non-league players in Kent have received international call-ups for Montserrat.
Several players in the county have been chosen to represent the Caribbean island - ranked 183 in the world but improving on the world stage.
Dartford pair Jernade Meade and Craig Braham-Barrett have both received a call-up for Montserrat as the island nation prepare to face Antigua and Barbuda and El Salvador.
Montserrat are captained by former Charlton striker Lyle Taylor - now at Nottingham Forest - and his brother Joey, who plays for Sevenoaks Town in the Isthmian League, has also been called up.
Montserrat are kicking off their FIFA World Cup CONCACAF qualifiers with a match against Antigua and Barbuda on Wednesday (March 24) before facing El Salvador on Sunday, March 28.
Ricky Modeste, who also played for Dartford in the 2020/21 campaign, will be representing Grenada in the same qualification group as Montserrat. They play El Salvador on Friday, March 26 and the US Virgin Islands on Wednesday, March 31.
Modeste started just two matches for Dartford during the 2020/21 season, including their last league game of the campaign, after missing a large part of the season through injury.
Experienced defender Braham-Barrett played 16 times in the past campaign while former Arsenal youngster Meade, also a defender, was limited to just one appearance having joined the Darts in mid-December.
Gillingham’s Matty Willock is also eligible to play for Montserrat but it’s not believed that he has been selected.
Also called up for Montserrat is Welling United’s Kaleem Simon along with Erith Town goalkeeper Nic Taylor. Both of their games are due to be played in Curacao.
Matt Baker, a member of Gills’ youth team, has been picked to play for Wales’ under-18s and they will take on England at the Leckwith Stadium, Cardiff on Monday, March 29. It’s the first time in 20 years that the Welsh have fielded an under-18 side.
