Midfielder Amine Linganzi, 23, insists the pre-season results count for nothing.
The Gills have lost games against Ipswich, Millwall and Crystal Palace in the last 10 days but the Algerian has no worries ahead of the new season.
He said: “We can learn from the mistakes (against Crystal Palace) and for us, we just need to be focused on League 1 for the first game of the season.
“You want to win games because you keep going forward to keep the head high.
“Unfortunately, we lost the games but we are just focused on the first game of the season. It will be totally different.
“We will be 100% fit and I know we can win that first game. We have forgot about (Palace).
“We have good players in the team and I believe we will have a good season.”
