Gillingham striker Cody McDonald keen to see boss Peter Taylor stay at Priestfield

Cody McDonald is enjoying playing under Peter Taylor and wants the Gills manager to stay at Priestfield.
McDonald has been in prolific form under the guidance of Taylor and has scored 16 goals this season. Two of those came over the Easter weekend as the Gills moved closer to securing their League 1 status.
McDonald said: “I am enjoying it and I am playing every week. The manager has his own ideas, he is a great manager and great person to train with. He works hard for the team and gets his ideas across. It is enjoyable to be here at the moment.
“We got a good point on Monday (against Walsall) and near enough have secured our place for next year.
“It is down to the chairman now to see what he does but all of the lads would like to see the gaffer stay and we will see where it takes us.”
McDonald is confident that with Taylor in charge the Gills can begin to look upwards.
“A lot of the lads have got League 1 experience now and I think we were short of that at the start of the season,” said the 27-year-old.
“Some of the lads who have now played in it for the first time will have gained from that and we will be able to go again next season and build on this."
