Margate 1 Boston 1
YOUNG Irishman Terry McFlynn instantly endeared himself to Margate supporters with a fabulous strike which almost toppled the Nationwide Conference leaders at Hartsdown on Saturday. The 20-year-old midfielder from Derry marked his first appearance since arriviving on loan from Woking by firing the Gate ahead with a stunning 35-yard volley five minutes into the second period.
Only nine minutes remained when Boston substitute Anthony Elding fired home from 15 yards to rescue a point for the leaders although even then they had to survive a scare when a shot from Margate's Phil Collins was cleared off the line by defender Dion Scott.
The game ended in controversey when striker Collins was sent off for allegedly making a gesture at Boston fans after they had goaded him for kicking the ball into advertising hoardings in front of them.
