ADAM MILLER netted the winner in Gillingham's 1-0 victory over Huddersfield on Saturday and hit back at criticism from Huddersfield manager Andy Ritchie over his physical attitude.

Ritchie claimed the Gills midfielder should have been sent off before the penalty but Miller was standing his ground and insisted that any team playing at Priestfield can expect the same.

“It’s a man’s game,” said the match-winner. “I think some players and referees like it to be tippy-tappy. We’re in a sticky situation that we’re trying to get out of and people are chucking their bodies on the line.

“I don’t know what the geezer expects us to do; that’s what everyone’s got to expect when they come here to play us.

“I don’t care who I upset, and if I upset people. If they don’t like it then they’ve got to take it on the chin. We’re all men and it’s a man’s game – deal with it.

“The geezer didn’t stop moaning, he was up off the bench every two minutes, up and down like Tower Bridge.

“I’ve got stick off so many people, whether it’s been here or elsewhere and I seem to get it off other players, but I don’t really care.”

Miller was booked for a foul on defender Nathan Clarke which prompted Town manager Andy Ritchie to speak out.

“He (Miller) should have been sent off,” said Ritchie. “There was a two-footed tackle in front of the dug-out. Nathan Clarke also has stud marks on his chest where he went through him and his foot is also sore where he did him in the far corner.

“I’m very disappointed with the referee, especially in the second half, as he gave them every decision going.”

The biggest decision was to award Gillingham the penalty and Miller stepped up to net the winner.

Miller said: “I had a lot of their players trying to wind me up and get in my head, but I just had tunnel vision, if you believe in yourself and if you go with confidence you’re going to get the right result.”
