Millwall v - Gillingham .

19:08, 19 October 2004

LEADING scorer Darren Byfield is axed for Gills clash against Millwall tonight as wholesale changes are made to the team.

Along with Byfield, Darius Henderson and Nicky Southall are dropped to the bench whilst Chris Hope and Andrew Crofts don’t even make the squad.

Andy Hessenthaler’s team are desperate for a win and enter the New Den looking to put an end to a run of five straight league defeats.

Just one point from the last seven games has already cost the head coach his job, and has put Gills in amongst the relegation places.

Millwall have provided easy pickings for Gillingham in the last few years and they will be hoping another success against the Lions will reinvigorate their season.

Into tonight’s starting eleven come John Robinson, making his first start since signing from Cardiff, Ian Cox returning from international duty, Richard Rose and in attack Mama Sidibe.

The midfield battle looks like being a tasty affair with both managers, Hessenthaler and Dennis Wise, naming themselves in the starting line-up’s.

With assistant manager John Gorman stamping his influence on tonight’s team selection it remains to be seen whether the changes make any difference to the end result.
