Stalybridge Celtic 2 Margate 2
MARK MUNDAY popped up with a last-gasp equaliser to maintain Margate's unbeaten away record in the Nationwide Conference at Stalybridge Celtic. Munday's header came with just seconds remaining to secure a draw and keep the Gate in third place behind Dagenham and Redbridge and Boston.
Stalybriddge went ahead on 37 minutes when towering central defender Ben Futcher headed into the top corner. But Margate equalised in the 69th minute when Mark Munday hit a 40-yard pass over the home defence and Leon Braithwaite raced round the back to score from about 12 yards.
Gate then enjoyed their best period of the match with Simon Beard hitting the top of the crossbar but five minutes from time Paul Lamb was dispossessed by Peacock as he tried to shepherd the ball out of play and from the cross Leon Kelly scored form close range.
Margate immediately replaced Jay Saunders and Dean Yorath with Mike Azzopardi and Steve Hafner and for the final minutes they forced Staybridge back. Their reward came from Lamb's inswinging corner as Munday was left unchallenged to head home from eight yards.
Margate face two games in four days next week, taking on Barnet on Saturday before entertaining Hayes on Tuesday
