Leigh RMI 2 Margate 2
MARGATE'S new signing Nick Roddis was sent off in the closing stages of his side's draw at Leigh RMI in the Nationwide Conference. Roddis was booked in the first half, and then received his second yellow card in the final minutes of the match for another misjudged tackle.
The dismissal only added to the frustration suffered by Margate who were leading until seven minutes from time when Leigh's Dave Ridings drilled home a shot in off the post from a free kick.
Roddis, an England amateur international signed form Woking on Thursday, formed a new-look midfield with Jay Saunders and Terry McFlynn. Leigh went ahead in the 26th minute when Neil Fisher stabbed home from close range, but Margate were in front by half time. On 32 minutes Simon Beard glanced home Paul Lamb's free-kick and four minutes later Phil Collins' shot was deflected past his keeper by Andy Farrell.
Leigh battled back in the second and equalised on 83 minutes when Fisher tapped a free-kick to Ridings and he gave keeper Lee Turner no chance from the edge of the box.
