PENALTY save hero Derek Stillie was pleased to do his bit for the side in the absence of regular Gillingham goalkeeper Simon Royce.
The Scot produced an impressive display against Bournemouth which was capped by an 80th-minute penalty save to keep Gillingham’s 2-1 lead intact.
“It’s brilliant to get the result especially as we feel our luck has been down in the last few weeks. To come away with a win makes us very happy,” said the 34-year-old.
“I was really pleased, especially with the way things are with the club. To make saves that turn out to be important is always great for a goalkeeper.
“I haven’t been second choice for a long time in my career but Simon has been outstanding and I can’t have any complaints. I just hope that when I come in I can do myself and the team justice.”
