Play-off chasing Pennock ignoring the maths

Welling v Weston
WELLING boss Adrian Pennock is refusing to set his side a points target to reach the Conference South play-offs.
The Wings closed in on the top four after seeing off Eastleigh last Saturday and six more wins from their 12 remaining games should secure a play-off spot.
But while Pennock admits that the squad are keeping an eye on other results, he is refusing to be drawn into working out the maths.
"We can’t afford to say we need to win five or seven games from here," said Pennock. We’ve got to go into every game trying to get three points, as we have all season.
"I know it’s a cliche but we’ve got to go into the next game to get three points and then move on to the next match."
Striker Steve Harper (achilles) and winger Ellis Green (knee) could both return at Weston on Saturday.
Pennock stressed: "It will be a major bonus if Harper is back for the weekend."
The manager is under no illusions about the task that faces Welling at Weston. "They’re fighting for their lives at the bottom. It’s always a tough place to go and I see it being no different this time."
The Wings travel to play-off rivals Braintree on Tuesday.
