Point-to-point champ makes intentions clear

SOUTH EAST area champion rider Chris Gordon showed that he intends to retain his title with a brace of wins at the Mid Surrey Farmers Draghound point-to-point meeting at Charing.
Seod Rioga won the Hunt race, defying his age of 14 years and a 7lb penalty. Gordon's second victory came in the Mixed Open when partnering Sheriff's Friends to dead heat with Struggles Glory ridden by his courageous owner David Robinson. The pair battled out the lead from three out.
Another rider to score a double was Phil York. Starting favourite on Rustic Revelry in the Club Race, York drew away from the field easily and won as he liked from the tiring Camden Road and Lovely Lindsey.
Rustic Revelry is trained by his father Ray, but Phil was the trainer of his second winner, Jackie Jarvis, in the Intermediate.
Owner Ellen Delaney bought the mare at Ascot sales for the princely sum of 600 guineas with the intention of breeding from her, but York persuaded her that he could win a race with the mare.
