WEST HAM have confirmed they will be visiting Priestfield on July 29 for Andy Hessenthaler’s testimonial match.
The FA Cup finalists will be in town to help celebrate the achievements of one of Gillingham’s all-time greats.
Hessenthaler, 40, who is set for another season with League 1 side Barnet next season, took Gillingham to their highest ever league position when serving as player-manager and is regarded as a legend by many supporters.
He made 360 appearances for the Gills and took on the dual role as manager following Peter Taylor’s departure in 2000.
The highlight of his spell was guiding the club to new heights when they finished 11th in the old Division 1.
Hessenthaler remained on the playing staff upon quitting as manager during the club’s 2004/05 relegation season from the Championship.
Gillingham have also confirmed Q.P.R will be visiting Priestfield on July 22, while a trip to Ryman League Premier Division side Bromley will take place on Tuesday, July 25 at 7.30pm.
