Josh Pritchard hasn’t had a holiday in over two years but he’s in no need of a rest.

Gillingham’s new signing spent last pre-season playing for Norwegian side Tromso and has recently ended a spell with Finnish outfit FC Honka.

The midfielder is now looking for a place to live in Kent after agreeing a two-year deal with Gillingham following his release by Fulham.

He’s aiming to make an impact in the English game, having previously moved abroad for first team football.

Pritchard said: “First team football was all I wanted and Norway was a bit of a step up from playing under-21 football here.

“It was a decent standard and going there did me the world of good.

“Playing under-21 football is good but in proper men’s football, there is that never-say-die attitude and will to win and that’s rubbed off on me.

“I get bored after two or three days’ rest and I want to do something. I have too much energy just to sit and relax."

“I can’t wait to play league football in England now. I have been playing for two and a half years straight, I’ve not had a summer.

“A rest might make you happy but what do you do? You get bored after a while and you just want to play football again.

“I get bored after two or three days’ rest and I want to do something. I have too much energy just to sit and relax.

“This is my first break and I don’t know what to do! Luckily, the World Cup is on and I’ll be busy with a move to Kent now.”

Pritchard said his decision to join the Gills was “an easy one” and the chance to work alongside Peter Taylor was one of the factors that helped.

“I am excited to be working with the manager here,” said the 21-year-old former Manchester United trainee.

“Peter Taylor has got a lot of experience at lots of different clubs and I know he will be helping me to become a better player."
