Reeves off to a flying start with double victory
10:50, 26 March 2008
Tim Reeves began his defence of the British Sidecar Championship in triumphant style with a double victory.
Reeves, from Aylesford, and passenger Patrick Farrance took race one in comfortable style with a 12 second advantage in their Eastern Airways LCR Suzuki.
Snow threatened racing during the weekend at Donnington Park but race two also got underway, with Reeves smashing the British F1 course lap record, clocking 1.12.384 secs with a speed of 97.346mph.
Snow halted the second race on the final lap but Reeves was handed the victory.
“It’s the perfect start to the season,” said Reeves. “The track was a bit slippery and I couldn’t turn into the corners. But we got maximum points so can’t get better than that, especially with the weather against us.
“The bike goes like a rocket, I’ve lost a bit of weight and feel really fit and Patrick is on mint form.”
