Revving up for eight-race action at Lydden
00:00, 05 October 2006
THE Dunlop Track and Race Car Saloon Championship returns to Lydden Circuit on Saturday as the headline event for an eight-race programme organised by the South East Centre of the British Automobile Racing Club.
The winner of both races at the circuit last month was Nigel Craig, from Elham, who will be hoping to continue that success with his Ford Escort RS2000, although Steve Weatherley (Ford Sapphire-Cosworth) and former champion Richard Brent (Peugeot 205GTI) will be hard to beat.
In the DTRC Class A series West Kingsdown’s Rod Birley remains unbeaten this year, but John Cross, a winner at Lydden last week, will be keen to make up for their last meeting together which ended in a collision.
David Oates (Vauxhall Tigra) and Bethersden’s Peter Wilkinson (Mitsubishi Lancer) will be aiming for a podium place as well.
There are two races for the Single Seater Series, which will be contested by a mixture of FF2000, Formula Vee and ERA retros.
The programme is completed with two races for the Sports and Saloon Series, incorporating Tigers and Tin-tops which run on road tyres.
The action starts at 10am with a sprint event, a qualifying round for the PPC Speed Championship, followed by the racing from 2pm.
