PAUL SCALLY: "This move can't come quick enough"

GILLINGHAM chairman Paul Scally admits he is "very close" to going public on his plans for the relocation of the club.

Mr Scally remains hopeful of keeping the club in Medway but work is still to be done before he can announce the intended site.

Mr Scally said: "There’s a potential site in Medway and two outside and we’re making good progress. We’re very close to being able to go public. For me this move can’t come quick enough.

"The Medway council and ourselves have been working very closely and there’s a very high chance that we will be staying in Medway."

The chairman has long stated that a move out of Priestfield is paramount to the club’s future as he looks to generate income streams to gradually wipe out the clubs £10million plus debts.

As well as a brand new stadium, plans may include a hotel, conferencing and apartments and possibly a casino.
