MARGATE striker Warren Patmore has stunned the club by asking for his contract to be cancelled.
Patmore, a summer signing from Woking, has decided to give up football so that he can concentrate on his business commitments.
Margate chairman Jim Parmenter said: “Warren does not believe he is doing himself, or the club, justice because of a lack of fitness and niggling repetitive injuries.
“He has been honest with the club and we appreciate that. Therefore we have reached agreement for his contract to be terminated.
“He is definitely retiring and has made it clear. We can continue to hold his playing registration and we wish him great success in his business venture."
