Peter Taylor has achieved his mission of securing Gillingham’s place in League 1 and is now waiting to hear if it is enough to secure him the job long-term.
But what do the fans think?
Taylor acknowledged himself that not all of the Gills fans are behind him, following abuse at Preston, but the minority often shout loudest.
Our poll asks fans whether you think Peter Taylor should go or stay.
Taylor took over the job back in October after Martin Allen was sacked. The Gills had two wins from 11 at the time and were sitting in 17th position.
Allen had led the Gills to only their second ever title, but was axed after his side struggled to make an impact at the next level. Taylor took over a team low on confidence.
In his 34 games he has led the Gills to 13 league wins and they go into their last game of the season free from any fears of relegation.
Highs include a win at Sheffield United and home success over Wolves, Swindon and Coventry. Taylor has also brought Jake Hessenthaler into the first team fold, where he has excelled.
There have also been some days to forget, such as the 5-1 defeat at Leyton Orient and the televised cup exit at the hands of Brackley.
Half of the current squad, including keeper Stuart Nelson and forwards Danny Kedwell and Adebayo Akinfenwa are out of contract in the summer.
There is much to do in the summer but should Taylor be the man to do it? Have your say here.
