UNITED SERVICES FC's long wait for silverware to put in their trophy cabinet ended with last night's win over Sherwood Dynamo in the Medway Today Cup final at Chatham's Maidstone Road ground.
Mark Beeching opened the scoring from a free kick after 35 minutes before player-manager Dan Butler made it 2-0 in the 52nd. Butler admitted afterwards that the team's preparation for the final had not been the best.
He said: "We had lost our last four games and on Sunday we lost 7-5 after leading 4-0, so our confidence wasn't at its highest. So we're delighted to have won some silverware at long last."
Tony Hudd, Medway Today's chief football writer made the trophy presentations.
