WHITSTABLE Town striker Mo Kadi is being reported to the Kent County FA after claims that he bit Herne Bay's Clive Stace during the Bass Brewers Kent League match at The Belmont on New Year's Day. Kadi and Stace were both dismissed following an incident in the 85th minute which also led to Bay defender Danny Maxted being shown a second yellow card.
Stace claimed in the bar after the game that Kadi had bitten him, and the allegation gained weight when Kennington referee Paul Kelly confirmed he had indeed sent the Town striker off for biting. Just moments before the dismissals Kadi had scored Whitstable's winning goal in a 2-1 win.
Herne Bay chairman John Bathurst said: "We will definitely be writing to the county FA and we'll also send a copy of the letter to the Kent League. Things like this have no place in football and we're not prepared to stand by and do nothing."
Town chairman Joe Brownett said his club would hang fire on any action until the matter had been properly investigated.
"It would not be right for us to do anything until all the facts have been heard. Once they have we will take the appropriate action," he explained.
Kadi refused to comment about Stace's accusation but his manager, John Roseman, believes the situation has been blown out of all proportion. "The referee has clearly not seen the incident because he had to ask his linesman what happened and he was 20 yards away.
"I think he's heard someone saying that the lad has been bitten and that's what he's picked up on. The situation has developed because of the inexperience of the referee."
Bay boss Nick Denly said he could not condone Stace's retaliation but argued that the young midfielder had been heavily provoked.
