STOKE CITY have completed the signing of former Gillingham striker Mamady Sidibe.

The 25-year-old had ended his three-year stay at Priestfield at the end of the season after rejecting a new contract offer made by chairman Paul Scally.

Sidibe was signed from Swansea in August 2002, but found it difficult to find the net in his time at Gillingham.

During his stint at the club, Sidibe netted just a handful of goal in over 100 games.

John Rudge, Stoke director of football, is still certain the Mali international has plenty to offer.

He said: "He is a big strong forward and we see him as an excellent acquisition to the squad.

"We are delighted to sign him. He is still young, improving player and we feel he has lots of potential."

Meanwhile, Gills third choice keeper Bertrand Bossu could be the latest player to depart Priestfield, with Darlington manager Dave Hodgson admitting his interest in talking to the 6ft 7in Frenchman.
