Peter Taylor was once again critical of Gills' first-half performance in their 4-1 defeat at Rotherham.
Gills were out of contention after conceding three times before the break.
And boss Taylor said: "First half Rotherham were absolutely miles better than us in every way.
"They were first to everything and deserved to be at least 3-0 up.
"It was a very poor start from us and we've got to learn from that because if you don't start right and teams get momentum, you're going to get punished.
"I've explained to them you cannot possibly start how you fancy.
"You've got to start right, start strong and be hard to play against and you've got to start being first to the ball.
"We were nothing like that. Second half we calmed it down a little bit but that's sometimes what happens when teams take their foot off the gas a little bit."
