Gillingham assistant manager John Schofield writes exclusively for the KM Group

08:05, 17 April 2014

Last week I mentioned about looking up rather than down and this week we’re looking forward rather than back.

Our performance against Leyton Orient was disappointing but we can’t afford to sulk about it. We’ve got to keep looking ahead. We can’t do anything about our last game now and what we have to try to do is learn from that and move on.

What was great to see was the fantastic following that we had from our supporters and it’s just a shame that we had such a bad day on the pitch.

After conceding four goals in the first half, we could have easily fallen apart in the second but at least we pulled it together and improved.

We’ve got a busy weekend coming up with Tranmere here on Friday and a trip to Walsall on Monday.

Tranmere have been in a bit of good form and the games can’t come quick enough when you are on a good run. All of a sudden you don’t get any issues with fatigue and you don’t have to rotate the squad.

Tranmere have had a few things happen off the field, with their manager departing but that doesn’t seem to have affected them.
