On Saturday we’ll be going to Leyton Orient to try and get three points, not to move further away from the bottom but to move higher up the table.
We want to see how high we can get. A couple of wins and we can start looking at 12th or 11th.
Some people might not see it like that but I always like to see things in a positive way. Don’t get me wrong, I know what’s happening below but I am also well aware of what’s above and those teams we can still overtake in our next five games.
We didn’t add any more points to our total at Peterborough on Tuesday night but, like we’ve said all along, whatever the outcome of a game, you want to learn things and look at things that can be improved. There were plenty of things we did right and we created good opportunities.
We had chances that came about because of our passing and from our pace on the counter-attack.
When we go on coaching seminars, a lot of talk is about momentum and moments that can change the game.
When Stuart Nelson made that penalty save, at 2-0 down in the second half, I was thinking, ‘hang on, this could be that moment.’
For the next few minutes we were camped in their half and, had one goal gone in, then they could have panicked. Unfortunately, it wasn’t to be.
It was disappointing for Ryan Inniss to go off injured early on but it’s all a learning curve for him. Believe it or not, he’s still growing and you can easily forget he is only 18.
But with that growth, you do get extra stresses and strains on the body. He’ll be OK and he’s getting plenty of experience with us.
