FANS of classic motorsport are in for a big treat at Lydden on Saturday when a collection of charismatic saloon and sports car events will be included with modern saloon races at the British Automobile Racing Club’s championship meeting.

Lotus-Cortinas, Ford Capris, Triumph Dolomite Sprints and dozens of other tantalising tin-tops will take to the track for the Classic, Historic and Post-Historic championships run by the Classic Touring Car Racing Club.

Sports car fans will enjoy the round of the Rawles Motorsport Austin Healey Club Championship when the lone Austin Healey 3000 of Bill Rawles takes on a sprinkling of Sprites which includes Sebring, Speedwell and frog-eye models.

Single-seater enthusiasts can look forward to the URS Classic Formula Ford 1600 Championship when multiple Lydden champion Paul Sleeman returns to his home track as well as the URS Classic Formula Ford 2000 Championship.

The South Eastern Centre of the BARC brings us up to date with four races for their popular Track and Race Cars Saloon series as well as a round of the Toyo Tyres Modified Production Saloon Championship.

There are a total of 11 races on the programme. Practice and qualifying takes place throughout the morning, followed by the first race at noon.

The Lydden circuit is on the A2, eight miles south of Canterbury. Admission is £8 (£6 for senior citizens). Parking, paddock and entry for accompanied children is free.
