The win at The Valley on Saturday was satisfying for a number of reasons.

It was our first three points, but also a first home win which is just as important after losing to Middlesbrough a couple of weeks ago.

Beating Leicester is always satisfying because they are one of the better teams in the division. I have three goals in my last three games against them now and the gaffer said after the match he is going to tell me we are playing them every week!

It is not about me, though, and it is not about Leicester specifically. We just really wanted to win on Saturday and we put in all the ingredients to do so and it was a very good game for us. We worked for each other and we deserved it.

There also felt like more pressure than usual because we did not want to go into the international break without a win, as that sort of things can play on your mind for the whole two weeks.

Sometimes you play well and lose, while sometimes you play badly and win. We would have taken the second option against Leicester – but we carried on from where we left off against Huddersfield in the cup and so we go into the break in a positive mood.

I played up front with Simon Church, and then Joe Pigott, on Saturday and they both have different skills.

Churchy does not stop working for the team and allows me to play slightly deeper than if I was up front on my own. Joe is a good young lad from the academy and did very well too.

It’s very important to bring through young players and give them a chance in the first team. When you do that, like we have with Joe, sometimes they can give everyone a lift.
