Stevenage have confirmed the signing of former Gills midfielder Chris Whelpdale.
The 25-year-old rejected an offer from the Gills earlier this summer and will instead play for League 2 Stevenage.
Whelpdale has been with the Gills for the past three seasons after joining permanently from Peterborough United in July 2011.
He has initially enjoyed a short loan spell with the Gills, where he had scored three goals in four games.
He went onto make over 100 league appearances for the Gills over the last three years and played in the majority of the matches as the club won the League 2 title.
He, along with Adebayo Akinfenwa, have both rejected the chance to extend their stay with the Gills.
Stevenage finished bottom of League 1 last season. Last week their star player Luke Freeman - a product of Gillingham's youth team - was sold to Bristol City.
