World champs going for British crown at Brands

13:34, 11 October 2005

WORLD Sidecar Champions Tim and Tristan Reeves are competing in the final round of the MRO Super Sidecar series at Brands Hatch this weekend with the aim of wrapping up the British title as well.

The Ashford duo led the MRO series early on in the year, but World Championship commitments prevented them from contesting all of the British rounds, which may cost them.

New leaders Sean and Mark Hegarty will have their work cut out to beat the World Champions in the two races on Sunday, but they hold a commanding lead and are still title favourites.

A large end-of-season entry is expected, with top Bemsee Nationwide crews such as Roger Body and Dudley Tomlinson, who are from Cobham and Meopham respectively.

Away from the sidecars, many of the MRO Championship classes are yet to be decided including the Supersport 600, GP250, Superteens and Supertwins.

Sittingbourne's Chris Bishop and Ashford's Toby Markham are both in with a chance of GP250 honours, while Gravesend's Nigel Lawrence makes his return to the class for the finals.

Brian Bartlett, from Ashford, Rochester's Sam Green, Darenth's Gareth Davies and John Paul Scott, from Sittingbourne, will all be looking to consolidate their positions in the Supersport 600 Divison.

Making his MRO Supersport 600 debut will be former GP125 star James Webb, from Tunbridge Wells.

Tickets cost £12 per adult per day, with children aged 12 and under getting in free. Action gets under way at 9am on Saturday and 10am on Sunday. Racing starts at 1.25pm Saturday and 10.40am Sunday.
