Kickboxing clubs in Kent come together for an online charity seminar
06:00, 11 February 2021
TKO Elite gym’s chief instructor Colin Payne helped almost 200 kickboxing enthusiasts train during a charity online session.
The Chatham club got together with three other Kent clubs and raised £1,800 towards local NHS charities.
Like most other martial arts gyms, TKO’s activity is heavily impacted by the current Covid situation. However, they are embracing new methods to make sure they can continue to help people keep active.
On Sunday the Kent-based kickboxing gyms put on a special open seminar using the Zoom conference app to get together, train and raise funds to support the NHS.
From their gym in Chatham, chief instructor Payne was able to teach 198 people of all ages and abilities as they all joined in from wherever they lived and all worked together. Each of those taking part had made a donation and the money will be split, going towards the NHS in the four areas that the various gyms are based in.
The TKO Elite gym would like to pass on their thanks to everyone that supported the day and now look forward to hopefully a better year ahead. Already three of their elite fighters are matched to compete on one of the first kickboxing events that will take place after lockdown and so the hard work will begin in preparation for that.
Anyone interested in more details should contact the gym on 07912 577773.
