There has been an accident on Blue Bell Hill this morning.

Traffic southbound on the A229 between Chatham and Maidstone is affected.

There are no details yet of any injuries.

Emergency services are at the scene.

The accident occurred at around 7.10am.

Kent Highways is warning drivers to expect delays and avoid the route if at all possible.

There are already delays on the northbound carriageway of the road as the three lanes have been reduced to one as a result of gas works.
