Air Ambulance lands in Whatman Park, Maidstone after canoeist falls into water

A canoeist has been airlifted to hospital in a serious condition after falling into the river in Maidstone.
The air ambulance landed in Whatman park, known locally as Millennium Park, just before 9am.

The man, who is a member of the Maidstone Canoe Club, had been training in a kayak when he came into difficulty, the club has confirmed.
A spokesperson for South East Coast Ambulance Service said: "I can confirm we have attended an incident in Mill Meadow Yard, St Peter’s Street, Maidstone.
"We were called shortly after 8am to reports of a person in need of medical attention.
"Ambulance crews attended and were joined at the scene by the air ambulance service which landed nearby.
"The person was treated before being airlifted to Kings College Hospital in a serious condition."
