Two dogs were killed when a fire broke out in a farm outbuilding.
The pets were inside the workshop in Cork Lane, Staplehurst, when it caught alight on Sunday.
Crews in two pumps arrived at the scene just before 7.30pm.
They managed to rescue chickens and ferrets by carrying out several coops and cages from the burning property, but the dogs were already dead.
A 16-year-old girl and a man, who is in his 40s, were treated for suspected smoke inhalation. South East Coast Ambulance Service attended but the pair did not need to go to hospital.
Emergency services left the site at about 9.30pm.
The outbuilding was completely destroyed by the blaze. Firefighters managed to stop the flames from spreading to an adjacent wood store and a nearby digger.
The cause of the fire is not yet known but it’s believed to have been started by a faulty electrical cable.
