Ann Widdecombe's top 10 moments in the Celebrity Big Brother house
15:00, 02 February 2018
Ann Widdecombe has made it to tonight's Celebrity Big Brother final and will shortly be returning to living on her own after spending a month alongside reality TV stars.
The former Maidstone and The Weald MP garnered controversy for making clear her views on LGBT rights, while attracting laughs for her apparent lack of depth-perception when wielding straighteners.
We take a look back at 10 of her top moments from the series.
1. Towelgate
It didn't take long for tensions to rise with the outspoken poltician. She ended up in a spat with transgender TV presenter India Willoughby on opening night after towels with the former foreign secretary's name on were placed on a bed Miss Willoughby had claimed.
The bickering ended when the former MP, a self-confessed snorer, slept in a second room alone.
The pair would later clash, after the 70-year-old referred to Miss Willoughby as 'he', for which she twice apologised.
2. Handbags at dusk
Viewers were left baffled when Ann was twice-spotted with a handbag during live nominations.
One viewer tweeted: "Someone please tell me why Ann got a bag inside the #CBB house like if she’s allowed to go out to Westfield and get some new clothes & makeup."
Another asked: "Why is #CBBAnn waltzing around the house with that hand bag swung over her shoulder?! Where does she think she's going? What is she carrying in there?! I need answers!"
3. Ann, now for your makeover
Made in Chelsea star Ashley James and Kardashian-bestie Malika Haqq joined forces to give the former Tory politician a makeover.
Quietly pleased with her makeover, Miss Widdecombe told Miss Haqq: "I wouldn't have let you loose if I had any doubts."
The makeover garnered attention from Andrew Brady, who wolf-whistled soon after.
4. Wolfwhistling 'a compliment'
The Brexiteer took to the diary room to give her thoughts on the whistle, saying: "It's supposed to be totally sexist to wolf whistle but it isn't you know. It's a compliment.
"It's just a cheery expression of appreciation.
"We're starting to lose our cheerfulness about everything because we're so miserable about everything.
"I mean, a woman who's going along, maybe a bit down and all the rest of it and suddenly some building workers start wolf whistling - cheers her up no end."
5. Early nights
The former shadow health secretary may have known the benefits of sleep better than her housemates, constantly heading to bed early and even asking others to have an early night so her bedroom lights would turn off.
6. The straighteners
Was this the best moment in the entire series? Probably.
7. AnnNav
"Prepare for left. Forward, left, left. Turn to your left."
Shouting orders from above, the former Strictly Come Dancing star took on her best navigation skills to guide DapperLaughs around a race track blindfolded.
True to form, the 70-year-old never minced her words as she barked directions at the comedian, helping him to a faultless run around the course.
8. Breaking the fourth wall
Big Brother's iconic narrator could face a challenger with this summary from the former shadow cabinet member.
9. Taking the plunge
It might have taken most of the series, but Ann proved she was no wet blanket, joining her contestants in the hot tub.
'You blithering idiots' she declared, whipping off her jumper before jumping in fully clothed.
10. Spice up your life
We're not sure if Ann has ever taken one of the "Which Spice Girl are you?" quizzes on the internet, but she rocked the Scary Spice look during a task in the final week.
Donning leopard print, the retired politician was joined by Courtney Act, Jess Impiazzi, Wayne Sleep and Ashley James to complete the pop line up as they performed Wannabe.
The Celebrity Big Brother final takes place tonight with two shows, one at 9pm, the other at 10.30pm.
