Appeal after body is found in river

POLICE have appealed for information to help them discover how the body of man came be floating in the river Medway at Maidstone.
A passer-by dialled 999 at about 7.40am on Sunday after seeing the body near the Lockmeadow Millennium Bridge which links the Lockmeadow complex with the Archbishop's Palace.
It is understood the 50-year-old man's body had been in the water for several hours. It is known that he was from central Maidstone but has not yet been been formally identified.
He left ikon nightclub, in the Lockmeadow complex, at 3am. Police said he appeared to have been under the influence of alcohol.
He is described as white, with short, dark hair, which was grey in patches.
He was wearing black trousers, a maroon shirt and a waist length dark-coloured bomber jacket.
Anyone with information is asked to telephone police on 01622 608189. The coroner has been informed. A post mortem examination is due to be carried out tomorrow (Tuesday).
