The family of an 83-year-old grandmother are appealing for thieves to return a priceless charm bracelet stolen from her home.

Pat Pounds' husband Harold, 87, bought her the jewellery when they got engaged more than 60 years ago, and he has got her at least one trinket to add to it each year.

But yesterday it was stolen during a burglary at the couple's house in Coxheath.

Mr and Mrs Pounds returned home at 5pm to find that the window had been forced.

Cash, a camera and the silver bracelet were the only things missing.

Now daughter Kim Mason and her family have taken to social media to appeal for it to be returned.

The 57-year-old support worker said: "My mum is absolutely devastated. In fact it has devastated the whole family.

"My dad buys at least one new charm every year to signify an event that has happened.

"It is a record of their whole life together. The bracelet itself does not have a massive value but to them it is priceless. We would urge whoever took it to please think of the effect it is having on my parents and to please turn it in."

Among the more than 60 charms are one of a stork, cradle and teddy bear to represent the birth of their three children, traffic lights for a passed driving test and cap for their daughter's graduation.

There are also two distinct disks, one with the name Andy and the other with Nick written on them, and a specially made lightning bolt to remember the time their home was struck in a storm.

It also has an extension attached to it.
