Armed police called to Peel Street in Maidstone amid fears for man's welfare

Armed police cordoned off a Maidstone town centre street this morning after reports of fears for a man's welfare.
Officers and ambulance crews were called to the house in Peel Street at just after 9.30am.
Peel Street between the junctions with Granville Road and John Street were closed while emergency crews spoke to the man, who was alone in the property.
The road was reopened by 11.30am and the man was taken into the care of emergency services.
No arrests were made.
