Armed police swoop on Marden, near Maidstone

Armed officers and the police helicopter were called to the village of Marden, near Maidstone, after reports of a man threatening to kill himself.
Kent Police said they were called to the area at 3.40pm after concern was raised about a Tonbridge man.
Officers, supported by the helicopter, attended Collier Street after a man refused to the leave a property and threatened to harm himself.
Police negotiated with the man, who is now in police custody.
During the incident, Collier Street and Green Lane were both closed.
Police cars and officers were later positioned near Pattenden Lane, between Boddingtons and The English National Opera industrial units.
Witnesses reported two Kent police Jeeps, two unmarked cars and an ambulance at the scene.
A policeman could also be seen holding a bullet proof vest.
