Arrest after car found dangerously stationed in M20 fast lane near Maidstone triggering tailbacks

A 43-year-old man has been arrested after his vehicle came to a stop in the M20’s fast lane triggering a tailback.
Police were called to a car stopped in lane three of the M20 London-bound carriageway between Maidstone services and Ashford in the early hours of this morning.
All traffic was temporarily held while officers and members of the highways team attended the scene.
After locating the vehicle, police arrested the driver on suspicion of driving while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
A Kent Police spokesman said: “Kent Police was called to the M20 London-bound carriageway between junctions 9 and 8 at 12.42am following reports of a stationary car in lane 3.
“Traffic was temporarily held while officers and Highways attended.
“A 43-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving while unfit through drink/drugs and remains in custody.”
All lanes have now reopened and the vehicle has been removed.
