00:00, 24 December 2002
AN INQUEST has opened into the death of a 50-year-old man whose body was recovered from the River Medway at Maidstone.
The death of Trevor Neaves, a warehouseman, from Melville Road, Maidstone, is no longer being treated as suspicious.
A passer-by dialled 999 at about 7.40am on December 15 after seeing the body floating near to the Lockmeadow Millennium Bridge which links the Lockmeadow complex with the Archbishops Palace.
A post mortem has been carried out. It is believed the man, who lived with his brother, had been in the water for several hours.
