Bomb squad tackles suspect package
00:00, 23 April 2004
BOMB disposal experts have been called to Maidstone Police Station to deal with a suspicious package.
The package was left at the back of the joint car park of the police station and Maidstone Magistrates' Court off Palace Avenue.
A police patrol and an ambulance were also sent to the scene, shortly after noon. It is not thought that the package is explosive.
Workers were allowed to walk past the scene in a neighbouring car park, separated by a brick wall.
